Bio of the artist:
Brett Cook’s work cohesively integrates the breadth and depth of his diverse experiences with art, education, science, and spirituality. For over two decades, Cook has produced exhibitions, installations, curricula, and events widely across the United States, and internationally. His public projects typically involve community workshops and dialogical art, along with music, performance, and food to create a more fluid boundary between art making, daily life, and healing. His museum work features dynamic art works based in portraiture that honor the best of humanity in all of us. While he utilizes portraiture’s conventional ability to capture likeness and convey something of a person’s character it is often the non-traditional materials, sites, and subjects that he choses to portray that expand traditional portraiture’s overtures towards pedigreed subjects.
